AN amazing £2,719 has been raised by the HGSA Ten in Ten campaign is made up of funds raised through a variety of fundraising initiatives and events since the start of 2010.

Events orrganised to coincide with the World Cup are set to raise even more cash following the highly successful; Beer and Music Festival.

Project Update:

Some progress has been made on a number of our improvement projects. For instance, work has started to improve the standard of the football changing rooms.

These changes are needed to enable the Club to meet the requirements specified by the Molten South Midlands League and the Football Association during a recent inspection of our ground and facilities and by doing so, enable the senior teams to continue to play in their current league.

Many players from the football club, ably led by Dave Allen, have completed improvements to the fencing around the main pitch; increased the seating available in the main stand; installed fencing leading to the main pitch and created a new standing area on the bank.

HGSA is responsible for the provision of a separate toilet facility adjacent to the “away” changing room and hand-basins in the changing rooms. These improvements are well underway and scheduled to complete within the next month. Wayne Fenwick and Martin O’Connor have completed the majority of the work with help from Barry Vaughan and Paul Gardner.

The temporary repairs to the car park have been achieved at very little cost due mainly to the persuasive powers of Nick Beresford from the squash club. Additional, infill material will be purchased in due course to finish the job.

Arrangements have been made to complete the upgrade to the Clubs’ audio-visual equipment. This work will be completed in time for the World Cup, to provide full coverage for HGSA members and to allow the Club to continue with fund raising opportunities, wherever possible.

Work on the children’s playground remains at the planning stage with a number of potential designs under consideration by the team led by Kevin Frewin.
